Abdul Basit Abdel Samad (1345-1409 AH), an Egyptian Quran reader and one of the prominent figures in this field, Sheikh Abdul Basit enjoys the greatest popularity around the world for the beauty of his voice and his unique style.

He entered the Egyptian Radio in 1951, and his first recitation was from Surat Fater.
He was appointed a reciter of the Imam al-Shafi’i Mosque in 1952, then the Imam al-Husayn Mosque in 1958, succeeding Sheikh Mahmoud Ali al-Banna.
He left for the radio a wealth of recordings, along with two recited and glorified Qur’ans, and Qur’ans recited from Arab and Islamic countries.
He traveled around the world as an ambassador for the Book of God, and he was the first captain for Egyptian readers in 1984
